Elizabeth Martin senior graphic designer at Broadleaf Studio

Elizabeth Martin

Art Director & Graphic Designer

With over 15 years in the industry, Elizabeth is an experienced senior graphic designer and production artist with exceptional technical skills and a wide range of B2B and government clients.

After receiving her professional diploma in graphic design, Elizabeth began her career as a designer and layout expert for various agencies, including Greenmelon, Beat Studios, the Bytown Group, and Charlton + Company Design Group. With each experience, she built her evolving portfolio while fine-tuning her creative design and technical expertise.

Having grown her career both pre- and post-internet, Elizabeth applies both an “old school” and “new school” philosophy to her client work. She works with today's most sophisticated graphic design software but also has a background in print publishing. As such, she can work with older software and legacy documents that organizations may struggle to access, resurrect, and update.

A natural and creative problem-solver, Elizabeth can easily pinpoint challenges in her clients’ branding efforts and offer recommendations for overcoming them.

Elizabeth has worked with a broad range of well-recognized brands, including the True Patriot Love Foundation, AdvantAge Ontario, Giant Tiger, Natural Resources Canada (NRCan), Parks Canada, Canada's Department of National Defence (DND), Fairtrade Canada, Global Affairs Canada, The Newman Group, Carleton University, and the Ottawa Humane Society.

Heather Morton professional, certified copy editor and proofreader at Broadleaf Studio

Heather Morton

Proofreader and Copy Editor

Heather is a tremendous asset to our team. Our clients tell us she has an excellent eye for detail, makes helpful suggestions, asks good questions, and finds opportunities for improvement that they might have missed. As a certified proofreader and copy editor, she will be your “second set of eyes” and help you put your best foot forward by proofreading and/or copy-editing your work. In order to give your readers a clean and professional first impression, a trained proofreader is an invaluable resource.

Besides catching basic errors in grammar, spelling, and punctuation, she excels at:

  • Catching inconsistencies in formatting and style.

  • Making sure all meanings are clear so that your readers will understand your writing as intended, without misunderstandings, unintended ambiguities, or raising unanswered questions.

  • Preserving your voice. Her work should be invisible; your original work will always be the star of the show.

Heather's favourite things have always been books and fabric. After many years of working in the fabric industry, she returned to her roots, as the daughter of two librarians, to focus on the written word.

She has experience working in website copy, B2B and B2C marketing, white papers, and fiction. She loves working with graphic designers on various copy and with smaller independent blogs, online magazines, or brands.
